second task

1). i will be doing the same thing as first semester so i will be drawing character based concepts as well as multi character pictures. i will upload 5 drawings each with a crituqe or 2 and then post a link to a deviantart gallery with the rest of my drawings in a folder
2).I will make a log using Micosoft Excel and having a parent sign it off
3).This task will help me be able to answer my EQ much easier by breaking it up based on the my three answers
A).Drawing with Detail
B).Technique
C). Storyboarding( changed answer from Color theory)
D) i will also be basing new the concept art most of it hopefully into the concept of another persons story and see if i can come up with good results
From that point on i will have different drawings each taking into effect the three answers above and see if they do help me answer my EQ in the best way or see if i have to come up with even better or hidden answers

EQ: What is most impotant in communicating a concept artistically?

The pictures with the critque next to them are the ones that were observed and rated by Carla
Commendations: Your inking man! its really good! i suggest your start using color other than greyscale.
Reccomendations: I see this as a current trend in all of your drawings... They are all in some way slanted as if you don't sit still when you are drawing. Head is too slanted and smooshed. upper half of the body is too long. arms and shoulders feel too stiff. he needs to relax right. Practice your muscles more cuz they are very easy to mess up on.

Commendation: Again great inking, coloring and shadowing!
Reccommendation: This picture would look more proportioned if the whole body wasn't so lop sided. I feel like you drew this with your head slanted. It just looks a little squooshed and diagonal. the postition of the feet (boots) are too pointed inward.

comendation: Very nice inking on this one! the shadows on the folds look accurate. I love the pose as well, the proportions are up to scale.
Recommendation:Your outlining however looks a little sloppy. Your can probably fix that with a thinner marker. Or maybe thats just the look you were going for. Maybe some shine on her hair would add a cool effect that you did on her leggings

Okay all i gotta say for this one is that detail is a pain in the butt lol you really have to be carefull with detail because if there is too much going on it starts looking messy. Small detail would be easier for you to do digitally because markers can't really make those small details without making everything look blotchie with ink. great poses tho. and like i said practice those muscles!!!

These critiques were all done by Carla for this semester so i thank her for her help

L:     "I, Leo M., affirm that i completed my independant component which represents 30 hours of work."

I:       I have been working on the above drawings since Christmas break and so after and over time slowly comleted each art piece and recorded exact time. Sure drawing takes practice and that is an easy thing people can say but all my drawings followed a specific guidline that each accumalates into an hour or more time per drawing.

Single character Subject
  • Sketch
  • Line art (pencil)
  • Line art (inking)
  • color (grayscale)
Or for multiple subjects in picture
  • Thumbnail ( early sketch of all caracters in pose positions)
  • then follow same steps as above
Any time i get a request or an idea i draw it as part of my independant task to further my idea of a concept. As a verification i do have my mom who was confirming that i did my work

Also here is my gallery folder which leads to the rest of my documented artwork at deviantart.com and here is a scanned image of my documentation and signature for my independant study

A: i do beleive that this task has helped me get further into my answers of my EQ by giving me a small sample of what a real concept artist does but over an extended period of time. I learned some new skills over the process of this task and have also received feedback from others that also helped me and somewhat altered the design of the first sketch. by doing this and finishing this task all the way through i have also learned to sketch and outline quicker than i normally do and have also added digital based art work to my art mediums. learning and using new tools is also a part of this so overall i feel i could do this project again but with a bit more.
